This tour will provide an overview of Bangladeshi life (culture, tradition, history, society and economy).  Students will learn about life in Bangladesh through meeting people, visiting community development programs, cultural programs and site visits. The tour will include visits to the cities of Dhaka, Chittagong, Rangamati, Cox’s Bazaar and Sundarban Forest.

  • Visits to BRAC University and Programs

  • Visits to GRAMEEN and CARE programs

  • Visits to UNDP projects

  • Explore Rangamati  (tribal area)

  • Walk in the beaches at Cox’s Bazaar

  • Overnight boat and touring of Sundarban Forest

    

Faculty Leader:  Nasreen Shibli

Nasreen Shibli, MSW is the Field Education Specialist and Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Social Work.  Nasreen           specializes in macro social work.  She has travelled extensively in South Asia.    

Estimated Program Cost

Fulltime BSC Students

      All Fulltime BSC students will be awarded a scholarship. This scholarship will cover tuition, fees, and a portion of the trip. The cost of the tour after applied scholarship money is $2,800. There will also be an additional cost of $131 dollars to obtain a Visa.

Non BSC Participants

The cost for non BSC participants will be $3,900 plus the cost of tuition and fees. There will also be additional cost of $131 dollars to obtain a Visa.

The Cost of the Tour Includes:

  • All Travel Expenses included on the itinerary

  • Housing

  • Airfare

How to Apply

1. Complete the BSC Study Tour Application below and return them to the Office of Study Abroad

2. Visit the Financial Aid office to discuss how you will fund your trip. Some students take out loans to cover the cost of the trip.

3. Apply for a passport immediately to ensure your ability to travel.

4. Discuss any concerns with the staff in the Office of Study Abroad early in the application process.
