MGMT 399- Portugal in Transition
May 18- June 1, 2010

Known for industries such as cement production, pulp and paper, textiles, footwear, furniture and cork, Portugal has more recently made significant strides in the areas of biotechnology, information technology, nanotechnology and energy. In this study tour we will explore the business and technological environment of Portugal as it makes its transition to a 'knowledge-based society'. We will visit science and technology parks, business incubators, factories, and universities, while also enjoying many cultural/historic sites and a variety of scenic areas in the country.

Faculty Leader
Dr. Martin Grossman, Associate Professor of Management at Bridgewater State College, received his doctorate in Information Technology Management in 2003. Since starting at BSC in 2004, Dr. Grossman has traveled to Taiwan, China, India, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Japan, Viet Nam and Cape Verde to participate in conferences and exchanges and/or to conduct research. He has been a faculty leader on two tours to China. Dr. Grossmans current research interests include knowledge management, business networks, and technology innovation

Estimated Program Cost
Fulltime BSC Students
All Fulltime BSC students will be awarded a scholarship. This scholarship will cover tuition, fees, and a portion of the trip. The cost of the tour after applied scholarship money is $2312.00
Non BSC Participants
The cost for Non BSC Participants is $2712.00

1. Complete the BSC Study Tour Application below and return them to the Office of Study Abroad
2. Visit the Financial Aid office to discuss how you will fund your trip. Some students take out loans to cover the cost of the trip.
3. Apply for a passport immediately to ensure your ability to travel.
4. Discuss any concerns with the staff in the Office of Study Abroad early in the application process.
