The short-term in Hawai'i program offers students the opportunity to pursue in-depth programming on a variety of topics related to Asian Studies, and gain first-hand experiences through specially planned fieldtrips. Students will study the religions, history, and cultures of East Asia and the Pacific Islands, as well as the history of immigration and multiculturalism in Hawaii. The program offers housing, meals, and transportation through arrangements by the University of Hawaii and a series of lectures by distinguished guest speakers from the host campus. In addition, there will be major field trips featuring visits to a number of local historical sites.
Dr. Wing-kai To is professor of history at Bridgewater State College and the coordinator of the Asian Studies program. He is a specialist in East Asian history and Asian American history, with a strong interest in the history of temples, museums and cultural treasures in East Asia and Asian immigration to the United States.. Dr. To has led numerous BSC tours to China, Japan and Hawaii.
Fulltime BSC Students
All Fulltime BSC students will be awarded a scholarship. This scholarship will cover tuition, fees, and a portion of the trip. The cost of the tour after applied scholarship money is $2800.00
Non BSC Participants
The cost for Non BSC Participants is $2500.00 plus the cost of tuition and fees.

How to Apply
1. Complete the BSC Study Tour Application below and return them to the Office of Study Abroad.
2. Visit the Financial Aid office to discuss how you will fund your trip. Some students take out loans to cover the cost of the trip.
3. Apply for a passport immediately to ensure your ability to travel.
4. Discuss any concerns with the staff of the Office of Study Abroad early in the application process.
* Please note that the flight will leave on January 14th, but participants will not return until January 15.
