COMM 356- Lithuania, Communication, and Culture
May 15- June 1, 2011

Lithuania is in the
geographic center of Europe (well, according to some geographers!), yet
remains relatively unknown beyond the Baltic. The country may be celebrating
the 20th anniversary of its re-independence this spring, but it draws upon a
full millennium of culture. This course introduces you to Lithuanian culture by
way of communication studies, emphasizing connections between cinema and media
studies, intercultural communication, and their broader political, economic, and
social contexts. We will stay not only in the capital city but also in a small
country town. We will not only be learning, but we will also teach
conversational English and video production at a Lithuanian high school. Join
us!
