MGMT 399- High Tech Taiwan: Exploring the 'Green Silicon Island'

Taiwan's rapid economic growth in the decades after World War II has transformed it into one of the world's most technologically advanced nations. In this study tour we will explore the business and technological environment of Taiwan. We will visit science and technology parks, business incubators, factories, and universities, while also enjoying many cultural/historic sites (including temples, museums, and memorials) and a variety of scenic areas in the country.
Highlights
Visit the Hsinchu Science and Technology Park (HSTP) and the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI)
Visit three of Taiwan's most important cities: Taipei, Kaohsiung, Tainan
Visit Sun Moon Lake (National Park and aboriginal area)
Faculty Leader: Dr. Martin Grossman
Dr. Martin Grossman, Associate Professor of Management at Bridgewater State College, received his doctorate in Information Technology Management in 2003. Since starting at BSC in 2004, Dr. Grossman has traveled to Taiwan, China, India, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Japan, Viet Nam and Cape Verde to participate in conferences and exchanges and/or to conduct research. He has been a faculty leader on two study tours to China. Dr. Grossman's current research interests include knowledge management, business networks, and technology innovation
Estimated Program Cost
Fulltime BSC Students
All Fulltime BSC students will be awarded a scholarship. This scholarship will cover tuition, fees, and a portion of the trip. The cost of the tour after applied scholarship money is $2,700.
Non BSC Participants
The cost for non BSC participants will be $3,075 plus the cost of tuition and fees.

How to Apply
1. Complete the BSC Study Tour Application below and return them to the Office of Study Abroad.
2. Visit the Financial Aid office to discuss how you will fund your trip. Some students take out loans to cover the cost of the trip.
3. Apply for a passport immediately to ensure your ability to travel.
4. Discuss any concerns with the staff of the Office of Study Abroad early in the application process.
