Study Abroad Student Ambassadors

 

Who is eligible to become a Study Abroad Student Ambassador?

Any student that has studied away through the office of study abroad in a short term, semester, yearly, or summer program can be eligible. Students will need to have a GPA of 2.5 or greater in order to be considered an eligible candidate. A GPA of 2.5 or greater will need to be maintained by a student ambassador to remain in the program. Students will have to be in good judicial standing with the Student Conduct Office in BSU.

What does a Study Abroad Student Ambassadors do?

Study Abroad Student Ambassadors will be mentors to incoming students that are participating in programs conducted by the Office of Study Abroad. Students will participate in discussions revolving their academic and personal experiences abroad. Student Ambassadors will able to present on experiences abroad in Study Abroad 101's, Study Abroad Fairs, Admission events, and Orientation events. Good communication skills are required for Student Ambassadors because of their active participation in front of audiences.

How long is the commitment to the Study Abroad Student Ambassador Program?

Commitment for the program will be for the academic year starting in September. Students will be asked to serve 10-15 hours each semester as a Student Ambassador. The Office of Study Abroad will be flexible with any student scheduling volunteer hours.

What are the benefits of becoming a Study Abroad Student Ambassador?

Students participating in the program will be given the ability to share their excitement, experiences, and inspirations in studying abroad. This program will allow students to build on their leadership skills and mentor new students traveling abroad. The Student Ambassador program will strengthen international and leadership experiences for your resume. Also, participants will be able to network with a wide variety of staff  located all around the world.

·     Applications will be reviewed after the submission for the position has been made.

·     Within two weeks candidates will be notified on the status of their application.

·     A date will be selected for an information session with the Director of Study Abroad with the newly appointed Student Ambassador.
