and Literacy Skills Test Writing Subtest Study Guide - Grammar and Usage, Grammar Definitions, Sample Questions |
| This part of the Writing Subtest asks candidates to define grammatical terms
presented. Responses to the grammar definition items are scored as correct or incorrect
based on the accuracy and sufficiency of the definition provided. This is the official explanation from the MECT Test Booklet. As educators, we know that things like grammar should not be learned or tested in isolation. The idea here is to get over your righteous indignation and start memorizing. Actually, that is the good news. Also, look at the explanation above; that last sentence could be translated "too much of a definition is better than too little." Write longer definitions and provide an example of the part of speech in a sentence. |
