Davis Educational Foundation Grant
In 2010, Bridgewater State University was awarded $200,000 by the Davis Educational Foundation to sustain long-term, comprehensive faculty development programming. The two-year grant expands the Teacher-Scholar Institute piloted in summer 2010; creates year-round Faculty Learning Communities growing out of the Institute; and supports annual assessment and planning of faculty development programming. Its larger purpose is to support a cross-disciplinary inquiry into the scholarship of teaching and learning, with a focus on strategies for enhancing student engagement.
The grant proposal was co-authored by Andy Harris, Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs, and Ann Brunjes, Director of Teaching and Learning, with significant contributions from Ed Brush (Chemistry), Michelle Cox (English; Writing Across the Curriculum), Sabrina Gentlewarrior (Director, Office of Institutional Diversity) and Lee Torda (English).
