The Board of Higher Education of Massachusetts requires BSU to administer placement exams in reading and mathematics to all new matriculated students. Placement exam scores are used in connection with other factors to inform course selection for math and English courses. Students' skills are assessed in three broad areas: mathematics, reading, and writing.
BSU uses the computer adaptive ACCUPLACER exam for mathematics and English entrance assessments. In the adaptive method, questions are chosen for you on the basis of your answers to previous questions. This technique selects just the right questions for your ability level.
