MANDATORY TRANSFER ORIENTATION AND WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

All transfer students are required to attend a mandatory transfer orientation program. The orientation dates for students who plan to enter Bridgewater in January 2010 are: January 12, or January 13, with a snow date of January 14.

Please note: You must attend one of these sessions.

Dear Transfer Student:

As a student with college experience, I understand that you may feel attending orientation is unnecessary, and I understand that the most important thing on your mind is registering for classes. However, since every institution has its own set of guidelines, I cannot overemphasis the importance of attending and preparing for your orientation session. Please take the time necessary to familiarize yourself with the items listed in the transfer checklist below. Preparation is the key to a smooth transition. I am confident that if you complete the checklist below you will have a rewarding and meaningful experience.

Sincerely,

Sandra Christoun
Transfer Coordinator

Transfer Checklist:

  1. Register for orientation.
  2. Complete the Transfer Workshop.
  3. Print your Degree Audit (information on your accessing your audit can be found in the Transfer Workshop or in the Learn to Read Your Degree Audit guide).
  4. Learn to Read Your Degree Audit (print this guide to complement your degree audit).
  5. Familiarize yourself with the requirements for your major.
  6. Familiarize yourself with InfoBear, the college's advising and registration tool. You can learn about InfoBear in the Transfer Workshop. NOTE: You will be required to pick your classes and register yourself via InfoBear. The more familiar you are with the process, the quicker you will be able to pick open classes and register. The two most important links on InfoBear are: Available Course Sections and Registration and Student Information.
  7. If you are an education major (with the exception of the non-licensure Early Education and Care Program), you know that a second major is required, and you will be required to complete that major first, while preparing yourself for entry into the education program, i.e. MTELS, application process, etc. Be familiar with the requirements of both majors. Information pertaining to the education program can be found in the Transfer Workshop.
