Survey Results
Thank you to all 160 students and 34 faculty/staff who responded to our
Oct 2008 survey regarding the web site redesign. You have helped identify areas
needing improvement as well as highlight what is working well.
Key Findings:
- Our audiences are heavy web site users.
96% Students use the web site once or more per day (vs. 89% in 2004)
99% Faculty/Staff use the web site once or more per day
- Students, faculty and staff use the web
site differently.
Students primarily use the web site for email, blackboard, Infobear, news,
class cancellations and library (no change from 2004.)
Faculty/Staff primarily use the web site for email, Banner, Blackboard, campus
directory, campus announcements, forms, news, and accessing department sites.
- Online Directory is more critical to staff
than to students.
Faculty and staff indicate the online directory is more useful that students
do (96% vs. 69% of students.)
- Student Announcements and Campus Announcements
are useful.
Faculty and staff indicate the campus announcements/student announcement tool
is more useful that students do (98% vs. 78% of students.) Several respondants
indicated that VLs were not currently in the online directory - we were unaware
of this and will add VLs to the directory if possible.
- Search satisfaction is improving.
Faculty/staff are more satisfied with the search feature than students are
(96% fac/staff vs. 69% students). However, student satisfaction has dramatically
improved since 2004. In 2004 only 52% of students wer satisfied with the search.
We introduced a new search appliance in the spring of 2008, and we expect
to see improved rates of satisfaction with the search as we continue to refine
the search result and remove outdated content.
- Navigation and web site content are areas
of general satisfaction.
- Overall satisfaction with the web site
is 88% for both faculty/staff and students.
