The Physical Education Major Program had its beginning at the State Teachers College in Hyannis in 1937. When the college closed in 1944 the State Teachers College at Bridgewater accepted the transfer of undergraduate women who were health and physical education majors. Thus, the Health and Physical Education Major Program was established.
In 1946 the Hyannis-Bridgewater Physical Education Alumni Association was formed and actively functions today under the umbrella of the Bridgewater Alumni Association. It is the oldest constituency group of the BAA.
