The Graphic Design Concentration prepares students for continued study in graduate school and careers within the field. The objective of the Graphic Design Concentration is to develop the student’s skills in both traditional processes and current digital technologies of visual and graphic design, while building competence in creative problem solving, spatial thinking, verbal skills, resourcefulness and creativity. The concentration’s curriculum focuses on visual design with an interdisciplinary studio emphasis, creating a dynamic relationship with the other areas of study in the department.

As artists, students in the program develop an understanding of the essential role of art and artists in society. Students engage questions regarding the social responsibilities of the artist. Together with the required art courses of the concentration, an understanding of the world is realized through the Humanities, Social Sciences, Physical Science, Math and English. Learning environments include core and advanced level courses, seminars, directed study, field projects, internships and publishing projects.

Questions regarding the Graphic Design Concentration should be directed to Professor Mary Dondero or Professor Don Tarallo.
