Bridgewater State University's Arts for Youth

Matt Batstone (Computers/Music Teacher): When Matt came to the realization that he was an eight year veteran of Arts for Youth at the ripe old age of 24, and a college graduate to boot, he decided that it was time to slow down and enjoy the finer things in life. Perhaps he had time to grow a spice garden, or hone his talents in the field of squaming (squirrel taming)…..luckily he came to his senses and decided it would be safer to stick to what he really loves, teaching at Arts for Youth! Matt spent this past year working as a paraprofessional in a special ed preschool classroom for Randolph Public Schools during the week, and with kids and adults with special needs at The Bridge Center on the weekends. He received his BA in English from Providence College last year, and minored in music with a focus on the drum kit. Matt’s been playing drums and percussion for the past 14 years in innumerable musical groups including concert bands, jazz bands, pit orchestras, marching bands, pep bands and rock bands. This year at AFY Matt will be running the newspaper, teaching music and band, and crafting a bunch of new workshops!
