Ronald McCarthy - Class of 1990
Ronald McCarthy was a two-sport athlete at Bridgewater State College competing in both football (4 years) and
baseball (4 years). McCarthy was named to the NEFC All Star Team in both 1981 and 1982 as a wide receiver. He still
holds the BSC record for most catches in a season with 46. On the baseball field. Ron climaxed an outstanding career
in his senior year when he hit .453 with 6 homeruns and 35 RBls. He was named to the NCAA All American Second ~ and
the All New England First Team. He was l first Bridgewater player ever to be named to either of these all star teams.
He was also the first BSC player to compete in the annual College All Star game at Fenway Park.
Ron has also coached both football (1989) and baseball (1984) at Bridgewater State.
Ron worked as a history teacher and vice principal at Middleboro High School from 1986 to 1996 where he coached
both baseball and basketball. He is now the interim principal at Duxbury High School. He and his wife Diane, along
with daughters Olivia and Veronica live in Duxbury.
