Paula Stockus Miller - Class of 1990
Paula Stockus Miller was an outstanding swimmer In the early 1970s at Bridgewater State College. In her senior
year, Paula was ranked 13th in the NCAA in both the 50 and 100 freestyle. She stilI holds the BSC records in the 100
freestyle but her thirty-year hold on the 200 freestyle record ended in 2003.
Following her collegiate career at Bridgewater, Paula went on to teach and coach swimming at Indiana State
University (1973-74), the University of Arkansas (1974-76), Springfield College (1976-78), and California State
University (1978-84). Since 1984, she has been at Ithaca College where she has been both the men's (1984-87) and
women's (1984-2003) swim coach. During her tenure there, she has coached 33 All Americans and was named the NCAA
Division III "Coach of the Year" in 1988. A native of Canton, MA, Paula now lives with her family in Ithaca, NY.
