Cathy Baker - Class of 1992
Cathy was a premier basketball player for Bridgewater State during the Lady Bears glory years in the 1980's. A
four-year letter winner, Cathy was the catalyst behind three NCAA Division III Championship tournament teams from
1982-85. She ended her playing career with 1152 career points and was the team's first 1,000 point scorer. She was a
two-time ECAC All Star and in 1985 she was the ECAC Division III "Player of the Year". At the time of her induction
she held school records for career scoring average (14.6 ppg), rebound average (9.4 rpg), career field goal
percentage (51.2%) and rebounds in a season (331). Today, she still is the career leader in all those categories
except for rebound average.
A scholar-athlete during her college career, Cathy was also nominated for the CoSIDA Academic All-American team
her senior year. Presently, she is a teacher/coach at Oyster River Middle School in Durham, NH.
