9th Annual Bridgewater State College Undergraduate Research Symposium

The Adrian Tinsley Program for Undergraduate Research is happy to issue a Call For Abstracts for the 9th Annual BSC Undergraduate Research Symposium. The Tinsley program encourages all students who are conducting research or creative work mentored by a BSC faculty member to participate. This may include research or creative work supported by ATP semester or summer grants, research conducted in research courses, Honors Thesis research, independent study projects, or any kind of extensive classroom project that was mentored by a BSC faculty member. Submissions from all academic disciplines are welcome. 

You may give either an oral presentation or a poster presentation. The oral presentation is a formal talk about your research/creative work, including theatrical performances/monologues, short stories, poetry readings, etc. The poster presentation is a formal display of research results and also artistic displays such as paintings, ceramics, etc..

This form is for electronic submission of your abstract. Fill out the appropriate fields below, then click the "submit" button at the bottom of this page. Your form will be sent electronically to the Office of Undergraduate Research. Abstracts must be received no later than Friday, 10 April 2009. Abstract - limited to 150 words. You can type your abstract in the text box below, or cut and paste from a word processing document. You can also submit your abstract as an email attachment. This is recommended if your abstract has special characters, requires superscripts and subscripts, or if you include a figure. Please read the email submission instructions in the text box below. The Abstract is a summary of your project (150 words max), and must include sufficient information for the reader to understand the nature of the topic. The abstract is a single, narrative paragraph that contains the following information: research question, background and significance of the project, methodology, and results. Please note that you cannot refer to any figures, tables, or citations in your abstract. If applicable, please include the source of funding for your project as the last sentence of your abstract.

Oral presentations and performances will be limited to 12 minutes, plus an additional 3 minutes for questions and discussion. Students requiring artistic displays should contact the ATP coordinators to discuss their specific needs. Upon receipt and acceptance of your submission form you will be contacted with specific details regarding your presentation.
