John C. Jahoda is presently Professor of Biology in the Department of Biological Sciences at Bridgewater State University. Dr. Jahoda was born in Dalhart, Texas. He was educated at Lyman Memorial High School, in Lebanon, Connecticut. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut, Storrs, Connecticut, with High Honors and distinction in Zoology, and his Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University.

After receiving his Ph.D., Dr. Jahoda spent a year at the State University of New York, College at Geneseo and came to Bridgewater in 1970. While at Bridgewater, his various roles have included Chairman of the Department of Biological Sciences. He has also been on the Board of Directors, Plymouth Marine Mammal Research Center, the Principal Investigator of Project SWIMS, the Coordinator JASON Project BSC/WHOI, and the Coordinator of the Science Exploration Series, a member of the education committee of the National Marine Life Center, National Science Teacher Association (NSTA), and the Principle Investigator for NIH-SEPA. His Academic Honors include membership in the Honor societies of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, and Sigma Xi. He is a life member of the American Society of Mammalogists, and a member of the Society for Marine Mammalogy. He is the author of numerous scientific publications, scientific reports and two books. Dr. Jahoda is very involved in science education.  Dr. Jahoda’s research interests center around vertebrate ecology, animal behavior and evolution.  Currently he is studying the dynamics of northern forest ecosystems, marine mammals, turtles and wetlands.   His hobbies include hiking, travel and fly fishing.
