Dear Colleagues,
Bridgewater State College has committed itself to a comprehensive brand management program which includes the alignment of its visual and verbal identification system.
With more and more members of the college community being asked to coordinate communications efforts within their offices and divisions, the Office of Institutional Communications has prepared the BSC Style Guide and Graphic Standards Manual, a publication describing the essence of the Bridgewater brand and detailing the appropriate use of brand elements such as the college's tagline, signature, seal, color palette, font styles. The document also includes a corpus of keywords relevant to the Bridgewater identity as well as an easy-to-use resource for writers.
The BSC Style Guide and Graphic Standards Manual goes hand-in-hand with the college's official policies on branding and visual standards, updated regularly and available for viewing at the Office of Institutional Communications Web site. The site also hosts a selection of high-resolution, iconic photography; images of all appropriate college and school signatures; and design templates for PowerPoint presentations.
This guidelines outlined in this manual apply to all printed and multi-media publications produced for external audiences by academic departments and administrative units that seek to market the college or its program offerings. Official college stationery, advertising shells and PowerPoint templates also fall under the jurisdiction of the branding policy.
Internal publications such as on-campus promotional flyers and personal correspondence that do not use any of the branding elements are generally exempt from the policy. However, the use of clean design and high-quality images is always encouraged.
It is our hope that this document and the compendium Web site will constitute a valuable "tool box" for communication practitioners on campus. The success of Bridgewater State College's branding effort hinges upon your support and understanding.
