Describe your career path since graduation.

I was involved with various retail companies for 12 years after graduation.

 

What is your current position and how long have you been with your employer? 

 Administrator for the Friends of Strong (volunteer department of the hospital).

 

Describe the main responsibilities of your position. 

I manage main lobby operations of a 750 bed tertiary care hospital in Rochester, NY. I also help manage the volunteer department which consists of over 700 active volunteers.

 

What do you enjoy most about your job? 

The interaction I have with the hospital patients and families as well as the interaction I have with our wonderful volunteers.

 

What do you find most challenging about your job? 

 How quick the healthcare area is changing and becoming more of a business.

 

Describe your typical work week.  (How many hours you work, your work environment, etc.) 

45-50 hours a week in a healthcare setting.

 

What job search methods did you use to obtain your current position?  

 Used some networking through people I knew at the hospital.

 

What advice could you give to students interested in your field? 

Get your name out there. Send as many resumes as you need to make sure you are being recognized. Make follow up phone calls and use Career Services to help you.
