Describe your career path since graduation.

After graduating from BSC, I began a career in financial services at MFS Investment Management. I worked there for a couple of years before attending Northeastern University School of Law. After I graduated, I continued my career at various financial services firms, including Fidelity Investments and Putnam Investments, before becoming in-house counsel at the Boston Stock Exchange. I am now employed at a large, private law firm in Boston where I practice corporate law.

 

What is your current position and how long have you been with your employer? 

My current position is corporate associate. I was hired September 2007.

 

Describe the main responsibilities of your position. 

I provide legal advice with respect to general corporate transactions including mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, securities and contractual matters.

 

What do you enjoy most about your job? 

I enjoy the intellectual challenges.

 

What do you find most challenging about your job? 

I find the hours and complexity of issues the most challenging part of my job.

 

Describe your typical work week.  

My hours range from 50 - 80 hours per week.

 

What job search methods did you use to obtain your current position?  

I utilized networking.

 

What advice could you give to students interested in your field? 

Treat your academics as a job and  make it your focus while in school. Study hard and don't ever stop working for what you want.
