Types of Events:

  • Workshops, Seminars and Case Studies are held at BSC on a regular basis to provide practical knowledge and skills needed to run a small business.

  • Off-Site Events, Workshops and Seminars hosted by local entrepreneurs and business groups related to entrepreneurship studies are also promoted by CES on a regular basis.

  • Speaker Series/Conference: Each semester entrepreneurs are invited to speak on campus and an annual conference to stimulate entrepreneurial activity within the region.

  • Business Plan Contests: CES research found that 73% of the Entrepreneur Centers surveyed have business plan competitions (Donovan & Ross, 2006). The contests incorporate seminars on topics that include: how to identify opportunities; how to develop those ideas; how to form and work in teams; and how to write business plans. Finalists will present their plans at a final event. Judges will include faculty, local entrepreneurs, bankers, venture capitalists and alumni. Winners will receive a monetary prize and additional advising on how to get their proposals up and running. Interdisciplinary business plans, as well as plans that include sustainability and/or social entrepreneurship, are encouraged.
