Bridgewater State University has received a $100,000 grant from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to support research on the national parliaments of Tanzania and Uganda. The research is part of the larger the African Legislatures Project (www.bridgew.edu/cls/LegisAfricanProjects.cfm). Professor Shaheen Mozaffar and a colleague will conduct the research with the assistance of a two-person team of Research Associates in each country. The research employs a multifaceted methodology to collect a wide range of data on the internal structures and procedures of the legislatures, their performance in lawmaking, representation and executive oversight, legislators' role perceptions and citizen evaluations of legislatures and legislators in the two countries.
