Washington Center Program for Internships and Academic Seminars
Bridgewater
State College is one of more than 750 colleges and universities nationwide that
participates in the
Washington
Center's nationally recognized experiential education. Founded in 1975, The
Washington Center has provided over 25, 000 students with internship
opportunities at the nation's capital. The Washington
Center
combines real-world work experience with academic learning. Internships are
available with more than 1,000 public, private, and nonprofit agencies in all
fields. Students also participate in one-and two-week academic seminars on
selected topics.
The
Internship:
- Four and one half days per
week
- One academic term (15-week
semester, 12-week summer)
- Academic credit is awarded by
Bridgewater State College (12-15 credits)
- Substantive, entry-level
professional work to merit academic credit
- No more than 20% clerical work
- Salary or stipend recommended
but not required
Applicants:
- Second semester sophomores or
above
- Demonstrated maturity
- Wide range of majors and
career fields
- Minimum 3.0 grade point
average
The
3.0 minimum grade point average is required by Massachusetts
Board of Higher Education (BHE) to be eligible for the tuition exchange program.
The BHE provides Bridgewater State College nine tuition wavers for
Massachusetts
residents participating in the program and the college waives fees. Scholarship
in the amount of $4,000 is also available for residents. Students are eligible
to apply for the program with a 2.8 grade point average; however, all expenses
are your responsibility.
