The LINKS (Linking Individuals to Networks, Knowledge and Scholarship) Mentoring / Retention Program provides freshmen students of color with a peer mentors to help with the successful navigation of the freshmen year.
The goal of the LINKS Program is to increase the retention of freshmen students of color at Bridgewater State College. The program goal is achieved via peer mentoring, seminars twice per month and social activities designed to link students of color to one another and to the BSC community.
LEAD (Leadership, Education and Academic Development) Program is a pre-collegiate initiative, for high-risk high school students of color. The program is a preventative partnership between Bridgewater State College and Brockton High School. The Massachusetts Educational Opportunity Program funds the program.
Brockton High School LEAD participants benefit from the use of Bridgewater State College resources. The college provides Brockton High School students with access to technology, cultural appreciation, college readiness preparation, test taking strategies and career counseling. Brockton High School Students are linked with a Bridgewater State College Mentor.
BSC students, affiliated with the Center for Multicultural and International Affairs, travel to our surrounding communities to perform skits and lead discussions based on multicultural themes.
The Speak Out Team helps to foster good relations between BSC and the Southeastern Massachusetts community. It also gives our students the opportunity to practice their public speaking skills.
In the fall of 2003, 12 students performed for Freshman Wellness Day at Bishop Stang High School in Dartmouth, Massachusetts.
