The following websites provide comprehensive online directories of volunteer opportunities. Each is updated frequently, and most allow you to search for community service activities according to your interests, geographic area, and more.

Action Without Borders
Connects people, organizations, and resources to help build a world where "all people can live free and dignified lives".

AmeriCorps
A program with the mission to improve lives, strengthen communities, and foster civic engagement through service and volunteering.

Boston Cares
Organizes and leads team-oriented volunteer opportunities and services in and around Boston that have a positive impact on individuals and communities.

Campus Compact
A national coalition of more than 950 college and university presidents. According to their website, it is the only national higher education association dedicated solely to campus-based civic engagement.

Corporation for National and Community Service
A corporation that provides opportunities for Americans of all ages and backgrounds to express their patriotism while addressing critical community needs.

Mass Service Alliance
A private, nonprofit organization that serves as the state commission on community service and volunteerism. Its mission is to catalyze the innovation and growth of service and volunteerism by creating partnerships that maximize resources, expertise, capacity, and impact.

Massachusetts Campus Compact
An organization of higher-education institutions that collaborate on promoting service as a critical component of higher education. Bridgewater State College is a member.

Network for Good
A non-profit organization dedicated to using the web to help people get involved in their communities.

Peace Corps
A volunteer organization that serves in over 74 countries around the world. Volunteers work in areas such as education, youth outreach and community development, the environment, and information technology.

People Making a Difference
Promotes responsible volunteerism by involving people in meaningful, one-time, hands-on work that meets the needs of local charities and by assisting companies in building successful volunteer programs.

Points of Light Foundation
The Points of Light Foundation & Volunteer Center National Network engages and mobilizes millions of volunteers who are helping solve serious social problems in thousands of communities.

SERV (State Employees Responding as Volunteers)
A program in which some state employees may volunteer during their regular work schedule, up to one day per month, with supervisory approval.

Servenet
Servenet.org is a website that mobilizes and empowers the volunteer service community to tackle some of the toughest challenges facing local communities.

Service Nation
A national campaign to increase service opportunities and elevate service as a core ideal and problem-solving strategy in American society.

United Way of Greater Plymouth County
A network that incorporates 22 local cities to work to advance the common good by focusing on education, income and health.

Volunteer Match
A non-profit online service that helps interested volunteers get involved with community service organizations throughout the United States.

Volunteer Solutions
An interactive database of available volunteer opportunities. This program is sponsored by the United Way.
