If the student has lost consciousness, overdosed, attempted suicide, cut him/herself or has in another way put his/her physical health in danger.
Call Campus Police at 911 or call Campus Police Ext. 1212 so the student can be evaluated by the police and possibly transported to hospital. Then contact your RD.
Non-Physical Psychological Emergency:
If the student is demonstrating delusional, disoriented, severe signs of depression or panic to the extent that their functioning and/or judgment is impaired.
ALWAYS ERR ON THE SIDE OF CAUTION:
If you are unsure about the student's safety, if you are unsure about whether the student is in imminent danger to self or others, or if you are unable to reach your RD in time, call Campus Police. They will make a determination about whether the student needs to be transported to hospital.
RA's must NEVER transport a student experiencing a medical/psychological emergency to or from hospital.
After a student has been transported to hospital for psychological reasons, that student is NOT allowed to return to the Residence Halls until s/he has been cleared by the Office of Student Affairs. Contact your RD immediately if you see the student in the residence halls.
