Civic Leadership Program

Bridgewater State College's Institute for Regional Development's Civic Leadership Program is designed to educate citizens of Southeastern Massachusetts to serve the region as the next generation of leaders and community activists.

Who Should Attend:

  • Members of local boards and commissions
  • Municipal employees
  • Aspiring community civic leaders
  • Anyone who wants to learn more about local government

Curriculum Includes (but not limited to):

  • Overview of municipal government in Massachusetts and its place in the intergovernmental system
  • Basics of municipal finance and personnel systems
  • Building for the future: sustainability development, land use and personal systems
  • Providing for public health and safety
  • Enhancing economic and community development
  • Attracting citizens and business to developing communities
  • Building civic participation with citizens and non-profit organization partnerships

Registrations deadline is September 27, 2007, one week before the first session.  Cancellations must be received as least 48 hours before the workshop.  Refunds will not be issued for late cancellations or no-shows.  Bridgewater State College has the right to cancel a program due to low enrollment and refunds will be made to paying participants.
