I teach in the department of Economics. I
am involved in Sustainability and local/regional/international
development issues. I am also interested in teaching Second Year
seminars, International Studies and Middle East Studies Program. I
started at Bridgewater State College in 2006 as an assistant professor,
yet I have had more than 20 years of full-time teaching experience.
I find starting a new position at a new college like getting into a dark cavern. One enters it with some day light. Quickly it becomes pitch black. |
It takes groping around to find the way until the eyes adjust to the darkness. After the orientation and the first week, all involved go back to their routine and the new member is left alone not fully knowing institutional nature and psyche. I had support from several individuals yet, it was ad hoc and at times not enough. The idea of FAN hopes to fill that gap. I wanted to be involved with new faculty to share my experience and short cuts as I see in their orientation.
