Faculty Advocate Profile

John Hooker

I joined the Bridgewater State University faculty in 2006. I earned my BSED (k-12) in Art Education from Missouri State University and my MFA in Sculpture from The University of Notre Dame. I teach studio art, first-year seminar and art education.

I also lead study tours to Tanzania and New Zealand. I serve on the African Studies Program, Transgender Advocacy Group, Writing Across the Curriculum and the Academic Policies Committee.

I have recently worked through some of the trials of being new faculty (I transitioned to teaching college from teaching elementary school).

My time at BSU has been fruitful and I hope to help others transition to productive and engaging careers here. You can likely find me in our new art facility in Hunt working in clay, wood and steel.

I'm here to offer support and wish you the best in your work here at BSU. Please don't hesitate to contact me.
