Dr. Bob Amey geography majors Amanda Hoffman and Pat McDonough all gave presentations at this year's NESTVAL (New England-Saint Lawrence Valley Regional Division of the American Association of Geographers), held in Burlington, Vermont. Not able to make it to the conference, but also part of the team were students Michael Carr, Ed Hanson and Ayako Moridera.
Dr. Amey chaired the session on New Urbanism, which focused on developments in Hingham, Weymouth, Mashpee and Westborough, MA. The student presentations were based on projects that they had worked on during the past spring semester, and on which it should be noted that they spent many hours this semester tuning up and polishing - without getting credit hours for it, and with great enthusiasm. Dr. Amey noted, "I think I was more nervous for them than they were. They did a great job, and their excellent presentations generated a good discussion at the end of the session."
Among other BSC faculty who attended was Dr. Sandra Clark who is the vice-president of the regional geography association.
