Latin American and Caribbean Studies Program

Students may pursue a minor in Latin American and Caribbean Studies by taking 18 credits of approved courses from the list of courses below.  No more than 9 credits from a single department may count toward the Minor.  Students pursuing this minor are strongly encouraged to complete courses Spanish or Portuguese, or another language of the region, at least to the intermediate level.  Students may receive LACS credit for relevant courses not listed, with the consent of the LACS Coordinator.  Please note that additional courses may be added to this list from time to time.   Check the college honoraria or InfoBear for the availability of each course in a given semester.

Special-topics courses may be included in the minor, depending upon the specific topic covered, with approval by the Latin American and Caribbean Studies Program Coordinator.               First Year Seminars (199) and Second Year Seminars (200) may also be taken for credit toward the LACS Minor, with approval by the LACS Coordinator.                                                      Study Tours and Service Learning opportunities may also be included in the LACS Minor. depending upon the location, with approval by the LACS Coordinator.
