What’s in a name? We’re more than physical education, we’re more than physical exercises … we’re more than most people realize. We are a department of opportunities for people interested in people!

Would you like to be one of the athletic trainers who help keep athletes sound and help their recovery from occasional injuries? Would you like to coach a team of athletes to victory? Would you like to help people with strength and conditioning? Would you like to know how to monitor heart and muscle strength or help people with fitness training by being a personal trainer? Would you like to teach physical education to students in kindergarten through high school? Would you like to know more about health issues or possibly teach health education? Are you interested in a career helping people through motor development therapy and adapted physical education? How about a career in the recreation area or fitness club administration?

If you have answered “yes” or “maybe” to any of the above, please feel free to investigate our department. Our department offers majors in  Athletic Training, Health Promotion/Education and Physical Education. Within Physical Education, there are various concentrations and minors, as noted below.

We also offer post-baccalaureate, teacher licensure programs in Health Education and Physical Education and a number of graduate programs including an M.Ed. in Health Promotion; an MS in Athletic Training and an MS in Physical Education with concentrations in Applied Kinesiology,  Human Performance and Health Fitness, Strength and Conditioning, and individualized programs.
