Performance Studies at BSU

Lessons for Credit

Individual instruction for credit is offered by Bridgewater State University faculty in voice, piano, guitar, woodwind, brass, string, and percussion instruments. Students may register for these courses in successive semesters or years.  All individual lessons are taken as one credit classes and provide the student a minimum of fourteen weekly one-hour lessons with a highly qualified teacher.  The standard fee for individual lessons is $300 per semester, however scholarships are available as performance studies fee waivers.

Performance Labs and Student Recitals

In addition to providing individual lessons, music majors are given the opportunity to perform in a series of performance labs. These afternoon master classes enable our students to perform for their colleagues and a faculty instructor in a setting that encourages supportive musical growth.  Music majors are also given ample opportunity to perform in a public setting in each semester of their musical education. These open recitals take place on Friday afternoons.
