The Canadian Studies Program at Bridgewater State University will hold its annual Distinguished Canadian Address featuring Gen. Walter Natyczyk, recently retired chief of staff of the Canadian Armed Forces. He held the position as Canada's top soldier from 2008-2012. The program will be held Thursday, March 28, starting at 12:45 p.m. in the Moakley Center Auditorium. A reception will follow. Gen. Natynczyk has had a decorated and distinguished career. A graduate of the U.S. Army War College, he commanded United Nations Peacekeeping troops in Cypress, Bosnia and Croatia in the 1990s. In 2004-05, he served as deputy commanding general of the Multi-National Corps in Iraq and was awarded the Meritorious Service Cross for his combat efforts in Operation Iraqi Freedom. His address is "Canada and U.S.: Partners in Defence."
