The Association for Behavioral Healthcare, a statewide organization representing more than 80 community-based behavioral health care provider organizations, announced its 2012 Recognition Awards recipients at its Salute to Excellence event on Oct. 19.
Each year, ABH recognizes human service employees, young people, consumer and family advocates and others who have made outstanding contributions to the field of mental health and addiction treatment. Dana Mohler-Faria, president of Bridgewater State University, was awarded the Excellence in Community Service Award.
Dr. Mohler-Faria has been an integral part of the campus community for 20 years and is a lifelong resident of Southeastern Massachusetts. He served concurrently for 18 months as Gov. Deval Patrick’s special advisor for education, was instrumental in establishing the Executive Office of Education and is a member of the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.
“At the Salute to Excellence, we honor individuals like Dr. Mohler-Faria, whose important work enables community organizations to better serve children and youth,” said Vic DiGravio, ABH’s president and chief executive officer.
