The Consulate General of Cape Verde in Boston honored BSU President Dana Mohler-Faria as part of a celebration marking the 39th anniversary of the island nation’s independence.
The president is among a group of Caboverdean American officials holding relevant positions and individuals who have reached the top of their academic careers who were honored and recognized by the consul general for their contributions to “the betterment of the Caboverdean Community and the relationship between Cabo Verde and the United States of America.”
The event was part of a vast program of activities organized and presented by Caboverdeans all over the U.S., with the largest events taking place in Boston, New Bedford, Providence, Brockton and Onset. The calendar of events also included celebrations in other cities, including Bridgeport and Waterbury, Conn.; Los Angeles; Atlanta and Charlotte, N.C.
In attendance at the celebration were American and Cape Verdean elected officials, Cape Verdean organizations, the Diplomatic Consular Corps of Boston, religious leaders, representatives of Caboverdean political parties, and others.
