Air Show

The aviation science program was showcased on a segment of the popular television show, Chronicle.
The program’s associate dean, David Price, spoke with host Anthony Everett, detailing all BSU has to offer students who want to work in the air or on the ground in an industry that’s always on the move.

Initially, Chronicle producers were interested in filming a segment about the flight simulator, which is located at BSU’s aviation training center in New Bedford. However, once they arrived decided to do a much broader piece.

BSU Theater's fall musical, "Painted Alice," the world premiere by William Donnelly, '94, was chosen to be performed at the Region One Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival later this month.

The play was one of five productions chosen from the region, which encompasses all of New England and New York. Dr. Suzanne Ramczyk, theater professor and director of the play, said more than 20 BSU students are involved in the production.

One Book Author to Speak

Elizabeth M.  Norman, author of "We Band of Angels," the One Book One Community read for the Town of Bridgewater and Bridgewater State University, will discuss her true, previously untold account of the first American women to prove their mettle under combat conditions. Her presentation will be Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in Boyden Hall's Horace Mann Auditorium. A book sale and signing will follow her presentation. The event is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required.

A Sentimental Journey Swing Dance and Canteen, a One Book One Community event that observes the reading of "We Band of Angels" by Elizabeth M. Norman, will be held Sunday, Nov. 3 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Bridgewater Veterans Club. The Swing Dance will feature the music of "The Olde Kids on the Block," a group of musical retirees founded in 1991 that features the tunes of Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Glenn Miller and Stan Kenton. Light refreshments will be served and a cash bar is available.

One Book One Community events continue in the Town of Bridgewater as the partnership with Bridgewater State University features Elizabeth M. Norman's "We Band of Angels," the true and untold account of the first American women to prove their mettle under combat conditions. "Military Women Speak Out" is a forum that will be held at the Williams Intermediate School of Saturday, Oct. 19 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Roles and responsibilities of women in the military from World War II to present day will be discussed.

Annual Powwow Scheduled

A National Native American Month Powwow will be hosted by Bridgewater State University on Sunday, Nov. 17 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Kelly Gymnasium. Drumming, specialty and intertribal dancing, educational workshops, storytelling, craft demonstrations, Native vendors and Native food will be featured throughout the day. Admission is $5. Students, faculty and staff with a BSU ID may attend free of charge.

Wind Ensemble Concert

The BSU Wind Ensemble will present a concert Thursday, Nov. 7 from 8 to 9:30 p.m. in the Rondileau Campus Center Auditorium. "Dreamcatcher" will feature the music of Samuel Barber, Rolf Rudin and Thomas Duffy. The event is open to the public and the campus community.

Mid-Week Music Session

The Department of Music at Bridgewater State University welcomes the musical community to its bi-weekly Wednesday night music sessions, which present an opportunity to join the department in a night of relaxed and supportive music making. The blues will be featured on Wednesday, Oct. 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Rondileau Campus Center, Room 004. The music department will provide light refreshments.
