The past week saw several Bears honored for their performances.

Junior forward Michael Lofton has been selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week. He shares the weekly honor along with senior forward Tom Poitras of Rivier University. Also, for the third time this season, Mr. Lofton was selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Fired Up

Noube Rateau, ’10, will bring his latest documentary, The Culture, to the Moakley Auditorium on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 6:30 p.m. The film looks at both sides of America’s ongoing debate about guns.

“It breaks down and investigates the environment, results, and motives of our gun culture,” Mr. Noube said. Specifically, The Culture focuses on firearms and their impact on urban neighborhoods.

Fulbright to Go

Dr. Deborah Nemko, associate professor of music, has been selected as a Fulbright Scholar to the Netherlands for 2014-15. She will spend the spring semester of 2015 living in Amsterdam, researching, performing, and teaching the suppressed and forgotten Dutch composers of World War II. She will be working with the Leo Smit Foundation as well as teaching at Utrecht Conservatory, which is part of Utrecht University.

Ninety-nine BSU student-athletes have been honored by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) with selection to the league’s Fall 2013 All-Academic Team that was released by MASCAC Commissioner Angela Baumann.
Student-athletes that compete in championship varsity sports offered by each of the eight MASCAC institutions during the course of the recently completed fall 2013 academic semester and have achieved a 3.20 cumulative or semester-based grade point average during the semester are eligible for selection to the Fall All-Academic Team.

'Bully' the Documentary

The spring lecture series for the Children's Physical Developmental Clinic at Bridgewater State University will feature the 2012 documentary "Bully" by Lee Hirsch. The film, which portrays the misery and specific struggles of bullying, will be shown Saturday, February 15, in Room 120 of the Center for Science & Mathematics starting at 8 a.m.

Job & Internship Fair

The annual Job & Internship Fair at Bridgewater State University will be held Wednesday, April 2 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. in the Rondileau Campus Center Ballroom. More than 60 employers, representing a broad spectrum of career fields including accounting, aviation, finance/banking, human/social services, communications, technology, sales, customer service, retail, insurance and management, will attend. Professional dress is recommended and please be sure to bring plenty of resumes. The Campus Center is located at 19 Park Avenue, with free parking available.

Honors students Robert Guillette and Janelle Roberts have had their research projects accepted for presentation at the most competitive undergraduate-research venue in the country, Posters on the Hill in Washington, D.C.

In a ceremony prior to Saturday's win over Framingham State, the Bears unveiled the Women's Basketball 1,000-Point Banner and honored the 16 (now 17) members of the 1,000-Point Club.
Four BSU Hall of Famers, Cathy Baker, '85; Carolyn Parsley, '86; JoAnn Runge, '88; and Lynn Malkasian, '90 were among the 15 players in attendance for the ceremony.  Also honored was current Bear Jenna Williamson who became the program's all-time leading scorer in the win over the Rams.
