History professor Andy Holman (history) is a coeditor of the forthcoming book, More of a Man: Diaries of a Scottish Craftsman in Mid-Nineteenth-Century North America. Published by the University of Toronto Press, the book presents the only known diaries of a skilled craft-worker in Victorian Canada, Andrew McIlwraith. McIlwraith was a Scottish journeyman who migrated to North America during a tumultuous period marked by economic depression and early industrial change.

More than 75 BSU employees were honored for their long years of service and numerous achievements at the university's annual Employee Recognition Awards Luncheon held in the Campus Center's large ballroom.

Service Awards were presented to 66 employees who have provided 10 or 20 years of service with the university.

"Break the Silence, Stop the Violence" features a Clothesline Project, a performance of "The Vagina Monologues," an organized march billed as "Take Back the Night/Walk a Mile in Her Shoes," and more.

Freedom's Champion

President Dana Mohler-Faria has been honored with a Champions of Freedom Award. The awards are given annually to outstanding individuals and nonprofit corporations in recognition of their commitments to diversity, educational achievement, community development and philanthropy that touch the lives of area residents.

The president was one of nine recipients of the Ellen S. Jackson Award for Excellence in Education.

Friday night the Choral Society's Spring Concert, under the direction of Professor Steven Young, will feature the world premiere of two works. One is by Professor Curtiss Hoffman of anthropology, whose cantata includes textual components from the writings of Carl Jung with melodies based on dreams of Dr.

The annual job fair hosted by Career Services introduced hundreds of students, alumni and community members to various employment opportunities available at a range of businesses and organizations in the region and beyond.

Sixty-one organizations from Massachusetts and Rhode Island staffed booths in the campus center's large ballroom, where they spent the day discussing their available full-time, part-time and internship positions with a steady traffic of approximately 350 students.

President Dana Mohler-Faria's Task Force to End Homelessness held its fifth annual Spring Forum, focused on "Mental Illness, Social Policy, and Transformation," which brought key advocates for fighting homelessness to campus.

Keynote speaker was Julie Salamon, an activist and prolific author who is chair of the board for Bowery Residents' Committee, an organization that provides care for people suffering from homelessness, addiction and mental illness in New York City
