The annual job fair hosted by Career Services introduced hundreds of students, alumni and community members to various employment opportunities available at a range of businesses and organizations in the region and beyond.

Sixty-one organizations from Massachusetts and Rhode Island staffed booths in the campus center's large ballroom, where they spent the day discussing their available full-time, part-time and internship positions with a steady traffic of approximately 350 students.

President Dana Mohler-Faria's Task Force to End Homelessness held its fifth annual Spring Forum, focused on "Mental Illness, Social Policy, and Transformation," which brought key advocates for fighting homelessness to campus.

Keynote speaker was Julie Salamon, an activist and prolific author who is chair of the board for Bowery Residents' Committee, an organization that provides care for people suffering from homelessness, addiction and mental illness in New York City

Student named one of '29 Who Shine'

Diana Ramos, '12, an honors student involved in numerous social justice and human rights organizations on-and off-campus, was named by the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education to the prestigious "29 Who Shine" list.

The list is comprised of outstanding students representing each of the 29 public higher education institutions in Massachusetts. The honorees are chosen based on their academic achievements and record of student leadership and community service.

Nearly 400 members of the campus community filled the Campus Center ballroom to hear Elizabeth Warren, the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, and former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright discuss their views on a wide range of topics.

Tsongas Scholarship Recipients Honored

Recipients of this year's Paul E. Tsongas scholarship, including a number of BSU students, were honored during a ceremony held in the Great Hall of Flags of the Massachusetts Statehouse.

As part of a program founded in 1998 in memory of U.S. Sen. Paul E. Tsongas, Massachusetts, who died in 1997, the nine state universities each year award a number of scholarships to top high school graduates in the commonwealth. These scholarships cover all tuition costs and mandatory fees at the institutions.
