Miriam Montiero is a Cape Verdean native and Brockton resident intent on exposing the high amounts of lead in locally available children’s items.

Ms. Montiero will continue her research as a post-graduate assistant at Yale University. Watch this video to learn more about her work.

If it’s early April, it must be time for BSU’s annual job and education career fairs.

This year, 419 students and alumni attended the job event, where they were able to apply for jobs and network with companies looking for internships or to bring on graduates for full-time positions.

Matt Coyne, ’16, accounting and finance major was impressed by the amount of employment prospects in his field.

The university recently solidified its relationship with the Wareham-based Smithers Viscient with the signing of a memorandum of understanding. 

The agreement will facilitate continued cooperation between BSU and the company on several fronts, primarily in the area of internships. This continues a longstanding connection between the two entities: 30 percent of Smithers Viscient’s workforce is comprised of Bridgewater graduates.

As it celebrates 20 years of devising innovative technologies for public agencies, BSU’s GeoGraphics Lab has a new reason to take pride in its work.

The lab was selected by the Federal Transit Administration as the northeast regional winner of two awards in a federal competition to design innovative transit technologies. 

What's So Funny?

Students had the opportunity to discuss the pitfalls of stereotyping, and have a few belly laughs at the same time during a recent presentation held on campus.

“Fighting Stereotypes through Comedy” was conducted by professional comedians Karith Foster and Jason Dudey and held in the Moakley Auditorium. Both presenters detailed experiences they’ve encountered in their personal and professional lives, drawing important lessons from them along the way.

Dr. Deborah Sheehy brings a passion to her work preparing future physical education teachers and finding innovative ways they can keep their gyms and classrooms places full of activity.

Now those efforts have brought some notable professional recognition for Dr. Sheehy, an associate professor and chair of the Department of Movement Arts, Health Promotion and Leisure Studies.

Making the Grade

After a multi-year effort by faculty that included a detailed self-study process and a three-day visit by a team of evaluators, the graduate program in clinical psychology recently reached a milestone, earning national accreditation from The Masters in Psychology and Counseling Accreditation Council.
