Parent Association Executive Board

2011-2012
The Executive Board is elected by the membership voting in April.  Each elected officer serves in the position for one year, except for the position of vice president/president elect.  Members who are interested in serving on the executive board are asked to complete the required information below and submit the form by Friday, April 1.
 

Officer Positions & Duties

Vice President (President-elect)
The vice president assumes the duties of the president in the event of the president’s absence, resignation, or inability or unwillingness to serve; performs other duties as designated by the president; and assumes the position of president the next academic year. The vice president will attend Executive Board Meetings, once or twice per year, and all  parent association meetings, two per semester. The vice president will provide input in planning Association meetings, along with the president and student affairs staff. The vice president shall be responsible for reporting on the finances of the Parent Association and the Parent Association Scholarship fund.  
 
Secretary
The secretary takes official minutes at meetings.  The minutes are maintained in a minute book kept in the Office of Student Affairs, which contains a true record of all meetings.  The secretary will assist in maintaining membership books of the Association, which contain a complete list of all members and their addresses.  The minute and membership books shall be kept in the Office of Student Affairs.  A tape recorder will be provided by student affairs upon request for the purpose of recording minutes.  The secretary will attend Executive Board Meetings, once or twice per year, and all Parent Association meetings, 2 per semester.
 
Advancement Liaison
The advancement liaison will help promote the Association’s scholarship program and the student emergency fund. Working together with the Executive Board, parent volunteers and the University’s advancement staff, the liaison will advance these important initiatives and generate ideas and strategies on how to increase funds to reach more BSU students. The advancement liaison will attend Executive Board Meetings, once or twice per year, and all  Parent Association meetings, two per semester.
