Halloween for Hunger
Founded by BSU Professor, Dr. Jonathan White
*Click here for drop off points

Halloween for Hunger, founded by BSU professor Jonathan White, is an international program that collects canned food and other non-perishables each Halloween for local food banks.  In support of our students who will be demonstrating the importance of civic engagement this year on Halloween, we ask that families and alumni share in this charitable cause by bringing a donation with them on Family Day/Homecoming. Look for the Green Can Icon on this schedule for convenient drop off points. You may find this list of items needed by local support agencies helpful, however all donations are accepted. Click here for more information on the international Halloween for Hunger campaign.  We hope you will support the civic engagement of the university's students and this important cause.

A Must Do!

11- 2:00 pm
Art Exhibit
Animals
Anderson Art Gallery

Starting with the cave paintings of Altamira, the depiction of animals has spanned the fantastic to the scientific. The four artists that have been selected for this exhibition all share a strong concern that the connectivity between humanity and the natural world has been broken or lost.

The methods used to portray this idea of a world out of balance vary with each artist. John Pusateri in his meticulous lithography details the tragedy of dead songbirds. Exacting photorealism is counterbalanced in the works of Larassa Kabel, by what appears to be a stallion in freefall. Natural Order by Rachel Meuler portrays a world of unnatural growth and unbound metamorphosis. Chimerical creatures populate the introspective and mythic ceramics presented by Adrian Arleo.

Animals have always played a significant role in artistic expression, from Audubon to totemic representation. The curator for this exhibition, Leigh Craven, has gathered together these works of art that strike a cautionary note in humanities unbalanced approach to nature.

Norman Ng - Magician
East Campus Commons

Norman Ng (Pronounced "ing") has been performing his exciting and unique brand of magic throughout the US for over 17 years.  He has performed for more than 500,000 from the New York Hilton Hotel, to the World Famous Magic Castle in Hollywood, California, as well as on hundreds of college campuses, fairs, festivals, theaters and corporate events nationwide.

Norman is known for bringing a fresh and dynamic energy to his shows. He views his show as a conversation with an audience rather than a performance for them. He involves the audience in ways no other performer does. He gets the audience to react in ways they never thought they could. He swings stuff, smashes stuff, and makes hundreds of people suspend their disbelief with every show.
