The Physics Major has several degree options - for details on the major and courses as they currently stand see the catalog. The Physics Major starts with 2 semesters of introductory courses in physics, math, and chemistry. In the third semester, Modern Physics introduces the student to the advanced topics that form the core of a physics major: quantum mechanics, relativity, nuclear & particle physics, and electricity & magnetism. BSC Physics is a strong department known for producing the finest K-12 physics teachers and many others who have gone on to graduate school and into industry. Typically we have over thirty Physics Majors and a handful of Physics Minors. Historically, roughly 20% of BSU physics students go on to graduate work, 30% k-12 teaching and 50% move right into industry.
