If you are a victim or witness to a crime, or have knowledge of a crime, it's important to report that crime to the police. Even if the victim is reluctant to pursue criminal charges, or perhaps there isn't enough evidence to pursue a case in court, reporting is still important for the following reasons:
Crimes committed off campus should be reported to the police agency having primary jurisdiction for the location where the crime happened. If on a college or university campus, that jurisdiction might rest with the college or university police department. Otherwise it generally rests with the city or town police department for the town where the incident occurred. If you're not sure who has primary jurisdiction, you can contact the BSC Police Department and an officer will help you to determine the agency with primary jurisdiction.
Crimes committed on the property of Bridgewater State College should be reported to the BSC Police Department. Campus property includes buildings, lands, vehicles (including buses), parking lots and roadways owned, used or occupied by the college.
You may report a crime several ways.
For emergencies you should call 911 if on campus and (508) 531-1212 if using a cell phone or calling from off campus.
For non-emergencies, the fastest and most convenient way to report a crime is to call (508) 531-1212 (x1212 on campus). This is the primary phone number for the police department. Those with hearing impairments may contact us via TTD/TTY at (508) 531-6111.
You may also report a crime via the blue light assistance phones located throughout campus. These are speaker-style phones that connect directly with our police dispatcher.
You may also report a crime via our Tip Line at (508) 531-6185 (x6185 on campus). This is a voice mail service.
You may also send an email to bscpolice@bridgew.edu or complete the reporting form below.
Please provide as much information as you can about the incident so that the investigating officer
