Degree, Certificate and Licensure Programs

Engaged Student Learning

  • Honors Program Small classes and close student-faculty relations provide for the vigorous and thorough exchange of ideas. Completion of the program results in an honors degree.
  • Undergraduate Research Research opportunities for undergraduate students. Bridgewater is the only public college or university in Massachusetts to offer such a program.
  • theBridge Student produced and run print and online publication. The Bridge showcases the artistic talents of the student body while providing internships in editing and in graphic design.
  • Service Learning Community service as a method to deepen understanding of course objectives, acquire knowledge, and engage in civic activity.

International, Exchange & Study Abroad Programs

  • International and Exchange Programs Study in far-flung corners of the world including Australia, Japan, Denmark, Brazil and Spain. Short-term, faculty-led programs are offered during January, March and summer break periods at Oxford University, England, as well as in Japan, Cuba, France, Ireland, Italy, Morocco and other locations.
  • Bridgewater at Lucca, Italy Summer program grants three-course-credits. Led by BSC faculty.
  • Bridgewater at Oxford, England Summer program grants three-course-credits in Art History, English History, English Literature or Political Science and Law. All of the classroom teaching is provided by Oxford faculty. Scholarships are available to eligible students.

Core Curriculum (GERs)

Interdisciplinary Studies

  • Asian Studies Focusing on East Asia, South Asia, or the Middle East, the program emphasizes the importance of understanding the history, geography, philosophy, government, sociology, and cultures of Asia.
  • Canadian Studies Earn a minor in Canadian Studies.
  • Civic Education and Community Leadership Interdisciplinary minor that promotes leadership and community services with courses offered in anthropology, communication studies, economics, english, geography, history, management, philosophy, psychology, political science, social work, and sociology.
  • Irish American Studies Earn a minor in Irish-American Studies.
  • Latin American and Caribbean Studies Learn about the societies of Middle America, South America, and the Caribbean, including the Latin American diaspora in the United States and elsewhere.
  • Middle East Studies Earn a minor on the language, visual arts, history, culture, and societies of the Middle East.
  • U.S. Ethnic Studies Earn a minor in U.S. Ethnic Studies.
  • Women's and Gender Studies Program Combines the analytical tools of different disciplines such as anthropology, psychology, sociology, literature, history and philosophy.

Non-traditional Academic Programs

  • Continuing and Distance Education Credit and non-credit courses offered evenings, weekends, off-campus and over the summer.
  • Distance Learning Courses delivered by interactive video conferencing, telecourses, teleweb, web and video
  • ROTC Program Reserve Officer Training Program offered through a partnership with Boston University and Stonehill College.
