#106 out of 197 in US

#3 out of 12 in MA

Sunday, January 17 through Saturday, March 27, 2010.

Bridgewater State College will once again participate in the national recycling contest RecycleMania and will compete in the Waste Minimization category. This category focuses on overall waste reduction.

Our goals are simply to raise awareness and to get students, faculty, and staff to recognize the rewards of living a sustainable lifestyle. This can be achieved by reusing and repurposing items that we use each day. From purchasing items with less packaging to making double sided copies little steps go a long way in helping to limit waste on campus. However, we all know that having zero waste is impossible so that is where having a full scale recycling program makes a great impact on reducing our carbon footprint. Recycling items are better then throwing them in the trash and recycling needs to be an important part of our daily lives not only on campus but at home.

Please help us achieve our goal to reduce waste on campus!

About our Recycling Program

The Facilities, Management and Planning Department's -Physical Plant is responsible for the operation of this area although students remain actively engaged in the daily recycling on campus: working in conjunction with the recycling coordinator and staff of the recycling office..

The Bridgewater State College Recycling Program was created in order to facilitate a safe and speedy removal of recyclable materials. A few of the motivating factors for its creation are:

  • To greatly reduce waste being sent to landfills
  • To greatly reduce the cost of rubbish disposal
  • To provide part-time student employment
