Where Can I Recycle On Campus?

Note: Any office that generates large quantities of items to be recycled can arrange for a special pickup of these materials by submitting a work order form. If you are cleaning out your office please request that a Blue Otto be delivered to your office and please make sure the Otto is only filled 3/4's so that the cover can shut, over filling the Otto makes it difficult for the students to transport back to the recycling transfer station.

Paper

You can place your office recyclable materials in the white containers that are located in all offices. These containers are for "paper only."

#2 Colored - Bottles Only (Wisk, Liquid Tide, etc.)

Unfortunately we do not encourage recyclables brought in from home. There are liability issues involved not to mention BSC already generates more then enough of waste per month and any more would put a greater burden on the system.

Cardboard

Most types of cardboard are acceptable, however boxes that are treated with a wax or plastic coating are not acceptable and should be disposed of as trash. Please breakdown the boxes if possible. If you have a large number of boxes that are extremely heavy you can arrange a special pick up by submitting a work order. All packing materials must be removed from each box.

Light Bulbs

Straight Fluorescent Lamps, U-Tubes, Compact Fluorescent Lamps, and Bulbs are collected by the custodians and placed in Fiber Drums for pick up by the recycling crew.

Batteries

Small green buckets labeled "Batteries" are located on each floor for battery collection. Nickel-Cadmium Batteries-Size A-AA-AAA-C-D-9VOLT (any type of Ni-Cad battery) are collected.  PLEASE DO NOT PLACE TRASH IN THESE BUCKETS!

Locked Ottos (For confidential materials -available upon request.)
Please shred your confidential materials if possible do to a the limited supply of locked ottos available from our vendor.

Each building has a recycling site where large blue containers (Otto) are located. These ottos are used by the recycling (student) floor workers to dump the recycling materials they collect from each office. Please feel free to take your recycling down to the building sites and place it into the blue ottos, this will help us out especially during winter, spring and summer breaks.
